Account Deletion

Deleting your account.

You can delete your Calido account directly from the app in a few taps. It removes your data from our backend and from our identity provider. A small number of records are retained where the law or safety review requires it; those are listed below.

How to delete from the app

  1. Open Calido on your device and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Go to Settings (the gear icon), then Account.
  3. Scroll to the Danger Zone and tap Delete Account.
  4. Confirm when asked. The app signs you out and returns to the Login screen.
Deletion is final. Once the flow completes successfully, the account cannot be recovered. Your username becomes available for re-registration only after the reclaim protection window lapses.

What the backend does

When you tap Delete Account, the backend performs these steps:

  1. Active calls are ended and any WebSocket connection is closed.
  2. Your account is deleted from our identity provider (Logto), invalidating every token.
  3. Your identity records are removed from our database.
  4. Your profile, contacts (in both directions), registered devices, push tokens, filed reports, diagnostic logs, and discovery audit hashes are deleted by cascade.
  5. On the device, local call history, cached contacts, and Keychain tokens are cleared.

If the deletion is interrupted (network drop, provider blip), you can retry; the final result is the same.

What is deleted

  • Profile: display name, username, avatar.
  • Identity: email and provider account.
  • Devices: device IDs, push tokens, capability records.
  • Contacts: your friend graph (both the edges you added and the ones pointing at you).
  • Diagnostic logs tied to your user ID.
  • Discovery audit hashes for searches you performed.
  • Device-local: call history JSON, contacts cache, UserDefaults keys, Keychain tokens.

What may be retained

A few records survive account deletion because the law, safety review, or anti-abuse measures require it.

  • Moderation reports you have filed against others, and reports filed against you, retained for moderation history.
  • Username history, retained to prevent reclaim abuse (creating a new account on someone else's old handle).
  • Aggregated or de-identified metrics where they cannot be linked back to you.
  • Information we are legally required to keep (e.g., for fraud prevention, dispute handling, or a lawful request already in flight).

What call content is retained

None. Calido never recorded it. Your audio and video were peer-to-peer and SRTP-encrypted; when relayed, the relay saw only opaque encrypted packets. There is nothing to retain and nothing to delete.

If deletion doesn't work

If the in-app flow fails repeatedly, please email calido@murat.run with the account's email address. The operator will complete the deletion manually. Expect a reply within 2–3 business days.

Uninstalling the app

Deleting your Calido account does not remove the app from your device. On iPhone and iPad, long-press the Calido icon and choose Remove App → Delete App. On Android, long-press the icon and drag it to Uninstall, or use Settings → Apps → Calido → Uninstall.

Manual deletion

If the in-app flow doesn't finish, or you don't have access to the email on your account anymore, write to the operator.
